Isabel Vaz

In this edition of JEQ, we are glad to announce that Eng. Isabel Vaz will be giving a lecture. She attented Técnico Lisboa (IST) in Chemical Engineering and latter enrolled in a Master of Bussiness and Administration at Nova SBE. Her professional career began as a researcher in the Institute of Advanced Biology and Technology (IBET), and later joined the consultant company McKinsey & Company as a Senior Consultant for 7 years.

Since 1999, Isabel is the President of the Executive Committee of the Luz Saúde Group. Isabel Vaz was also a member of the Nova SBE Counsil, a member of the International Advisory Board to the Lisbon MBA and a member of the General Counsil of the University of Lisbon.

In the last years, she has been a invited to participate in multiple conferences and has even been awarded the Maria de Lurdes Pintassilgo Award in 2017 by IST, aiming to recognise and reward annually two women graduated at Técnico, and the “Excellens Oeconomia” Award in 2015 by Jornal the Negócios, as the Best Manager of the Year in Portugal.

The Chemical Engineering Seminars (english for JEQ) are an annual free event organised by Chemical Engineering students from Instituto Superior Técnico. In March 2020, the thirty-third edition of the event, which has already become a reference in the national panorama, takes place and will address topics ranging from industry 4.0 to research at a level of excellence through the use of talks, workshops, technical visits and networking sessions.
