Navigator

The Navigator Company is an integrated producer of forest, pulp and paper, tissue and energy. Its activity based on modern large-scale factories with state-of-the-art technology make the company a quality benchmark in the industry. This company is the third larges exporter in Portugal and the largest generator of National Added Value, representing approximately 1% of national GDP, about 3% of national exports of goods, close to 6% of the total containerized cargo exported by national ports. Currently, its installed capacity is around 1.6 million tons of paper, of 1.5 million tons of pulp (80% integrated on paper), 130,000 tons of tissue and 2.5 TWh/year of eletricity.

Open to the world, its products are destined for approximately 130 countries on five continents, especially Europe and the USA, thus achieving the widest international presence among Portuguese companies. 

The Navigator Company also stands out in energy production from biomass, and its contribution represents: 

• More than 50% of the total energy produced in Portugal from biomass; 
• 5% of total electricity production in Portugal. 

Navigator is the European leader in the production of thin uncoated printing and writing papers (UWF) and sixth worldwide. They are also the largest European producer, the fifth in the world, of BEKP bleached eucalyptus paste – Bleached Eucalyptus Kraft Pulp. In Mozambique, progress continues with the largest integrated forestry project of pulp production for paper in this country. In Western Europe, the strategy for innovation and development of own brands and premium products translates into a market share of 19% in the UWF and about 50% in the premium segment.
